Historia de estas grabaciones
En 1969 entran a un estudio de grabación y plasman seis canciones. Solamente dos canciones fueron editadas en forma instantánea y lo hicieron en formato simple. El lado A contenía la canción Earth y el B Step on Me. Las otras cuatro (April lady, Polar Bear, Doin Allright y Blag) vieron la luz en 1982 y solamente en Japón. El material no ha dejado de ser una pieza de coleccionista. El simple fue un profundo fracaso tanto en el Reino Unido como en Estados Unidos.
Tim Staffel decide dejar la banda, sin embargo les recomienda que prueben con su compañero de piso y fanático de la banda, Farooksh Bulsara, que por aquel entonces ya había cambiado su nombre original por Freddie Mercury, que sonaba según él mucho más poderoso. Freddie fue porque todos sus amigos le decían Freddie, incluso en su familia adoptaron ese apodo y Mercury (Mercurio) es el mensajero de los dioses y que dicho mineral es el propio del signo del vocalista: Virgo.
